“Orvieto Way of life” and the project “Orvieto con Gusto”
The 1st project of Orvieto con Gusto project originated in 1997, coinciding with the 2nd world congress of Slow Food. The slogan proposed the city as the great enogastronomic dream of the adorned rock .drawing inspiration from its excellences and the culture of living well, aiming to enhance and make known the potential of the territory.
The constant growth of enogastronomic tourism, attracting the curious and passionate, whether motivated or generalists, desiring a comprehensive experience encompassing flavors, art, culture, and education, allowed the Consortium to work on a new and ambitious project related to the “Orvieto con Gusto” event “Orvieto con Gusto”. Crucial in this process has been teamwork at all levels and a common and shared communication.
Pursuing this motivation, in 2021, an exceptional collaboration emerged between “Orvieto Way of Life” and the “Fondazione Cotarella“, driven by the common passion to spread the beauty of our territory through its connections and various facets. Within this extraordinary synergy, Marta Cotarella currently holds the position of Vice President of the Consortium. Through this shared commitment, our goal is to illuminate the beauty of Orvieto and its surroundings, bringing people closer to all that our territory has to offer. . Through this shared commitment, our goal is to illuminate the beauty of Orvieto and its surroundings, bringing people closer to all that our territory has to offer.
The event, the first after the pandemic, thus becomes “Orvieto, città del Gusto e dell’Arte”. The program is rich in novelties, requiring cooperation among various entities to promote our city and the surrounding territory with greater strength and enthusiasm, starting from the youth.
In this sense, schools (especially hotel management schools) play an important role in rediscovering the past, making the youth protagonists and more aware through fundamental steps such as promoting the territory, enhancing differences, discovery, research, experimentation, sharing, socialization, tourism, and environmental respect.
Connections with institutions, consortia, and associations strengthen (Municipality, Gal, Consortium Orvieto Vino, Hotel Management Schools), the project evolves and expands its ambitions until 2023 with “”Orvieto, city of Taste, Art, Work, and Innovation” (15 September- 01 Octobeer 2023), ), in a city celebrating the 500th anniversary of the death of Luca Signorelli in 1523, the same year as another renowned Umbrian artist, Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, known as the Perugino.
Finally, in 2023, “Le Stelle di Orvieto” is born (October 24, 2023 – August 15, 2024): a project for the promotion and development of the short supply chain of territorial agricultural products promoted together with the Municipality of Orvieto as the lead partner in the public-private partnership formed with nine local companies. Orvieto is a jewel of art and culture, around which shines a firmament of stars represented by a range of products and flavors with unique and inimitable characteristics. A gastronomic heritage, deeply rooted in the history and tradition of our places, that we want to make known and appreciated.
